Foundation Curtain Waterproofing

Foundation Curtain Waterproofing

Foundation wall insulation is the best proof that insulation must begin at the foundation. Achieving adequate thermal and sound insulation for a building depends on ensuring insulation from the foundation to the roof. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure complete insulation during the construction phase using good practices.

Because foundation wall concrete serves as the skeleton of a building, it must be both durable and functionally enhanced by insulation. Considering that foundations are the underground portion of the building, foundation wall insulation is a legal requirement to prevent the effects of low ground temperatures on the building.

The occasional waterlogging and inadequate thermal conductivity of uninsulated foundation wall concrete has become a chronic problem that modern construction technologies cannot address. However, the lifespan and durability of curtain concrete, extended through good insulation, are also crucial for the health of the building.

How is Curtain Wall Insulation Done?
Foundation wall insulation is applied after the foundation is laid and the curtain wall is poured. Spray polyurethane, one of the best practices for water and thermal insulation, enhances the performance of foundation curtain concrete in this regard.

Drenflex boards and spray polyurea foam combined provide a higher level of thermal insulation protection for the curtain concrete. Spray polyurethane foam, which provides 65-70% waterproofing when applied alone, is further enhanced with other applications.

Foundation Waterproofing
Foundation waterproofing is applied to curtain concrete that has been invaded by groundwater over time, aiming to eliminate the corrosive and destructive effects of water. The goal should be to determine the groundwater level and analyze the level of stress on the foundation, thus enabling an assessment.

Insulation applied according to the ground moisture content aims to maintain the strength of the foundation curtain concrete below ground. Insulation against unpressurized underground water, on the other hand, is not subject to significant stress, resulting in no detrimental effects.

However, in water that is constantly pressurized and stresses the foundation, the importance of insulation and supports is undeniable. Professional soil investigation will be a factor to consider when insulating the parts of the building that come into contact with the soil.

Using sufficiently high-quality concrete that meets standards in foundation construction is not sufficient for the health of the building. Water and thermal insulation must be implemented technically flawlessly, with appropriate insulation materials and the maximum water rise anticipated.

The Best Foundation Insulation
Based on this information, building owners and contractors are searching for the best foundation insulation. It is crucial that experienced construction craftsmen and engineers have completed all the technical research for foundation insulation.

The water level, pressure, and materials to be used should all be considered as a whole, and the best application should be determined. Workmanship is crucial in foundation wall thermal insulation, as it can cause problems that are difficult to repair.

From this perspective, there are four distinct types of work involved in thermal insulation of foundations:
